Big Bear CARVINGS

The dream is reality! We are the largest wood carving yard on the west coast in terms of inventory and the sheer number of international carvers we HOST! Carvers far and wide love the invitation to carve in sunny Big Bear Lake, California; an international four-seasons sports and resort town with ski slopes, a public fishing and water sport lake, biking and hiking trails, and everything else you can imagine, including a wood carving tradition dating back generations.

BIG BEAR LAKE, CALIFORNIA

Local Chainsaw Wood Carving Tradition, REVIVED! After ten years honing his craft, growing as an artist and honoring the wood sculpting tradition, Kirby Craig's wood carving yard is now the region's premiere international carving destination. Elite wood sculpting artisans from across the globe carve and sell their unique wood sculptures to international travelers year-round, continuing the tradition of wood carving in Big Bear Lake, California.

Our Portfolio Of Work

Kirby Craig

KIRBY CRAIG is respected internationally as one of the most successful chainsaw wood carving yard owners, but also for his adorable trademark teddy bears, called Kirby Bears, with warm and welcoming smiles! From the Northern to Southern Hemispheres, his Kirby Bears are always a hit and impossible to keep in stock!

Steven Higgins

Top international carver and US Open Champion, is just one of our regular chainsaw carving artists who loves to carve at Big Bear Custom Carvings. His work abounds in the yard and, if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of him carving a new sculpture.

Ken Braun

Ken G Braun Jr started carving his living from trees in 2008 after working in correctional facilities for 7 years. I was working 12 hour shifts in the San Miguel County Jail in Telluride Colorado and would drive around in the mountains after a shift. I noticed that the county roads had alot of dead trees laying around and a pickup load of firewood could be easly obtained. "I used to pull off the road sides up there and carve in the back of my truck". I knew when I was taking it to that level I needed to quit my job.
